Phone Desk - Samsung DEX & Pixel desktop mode on your Mac Display
by•
Samsung killed DeX support for PC and Mac — if you've got a Galaxy Z Fold/Flip or a Pixel with desktop mode, your only options were a second monitor, a DeX dock, or nothing.
PhoneDesk is a macOS menu bar app that drives your phone's own desktop mode —Samsung DEX or Pixel desktop mode — as a real, resizable window right on your Mac. Not a screen mirror crammed into a box: actual desktop-mode windows, drag and resize like any other Mac app.

Would love a way to map specific Mac keyboard shortcuts to phone ones since some apps expect Android combos that don't translate cleanly on the Mac side, even a simple per app preset would save a lot of friction.
@ethem_topr36430 this is such a brilliant idea Toprak, like a way where user can set key binding like in linux ubuntu hyprland right ?
finally got to use my fold's desktop mode without dragging out a monitor or hunting down a dock. honestly the resize and drag behavior feels native, like it's just another mac app
@seraphbvl thank you for your feedback , other than the creation of my son, phonedesk is one of my proudest creation. i just love having the real time experience on the android ive been carrying around for this whole time. and use the desktop mode directly on my mac is just lovely
One thing I'd love to see is proper audio routing so calls and media come through the Mac instead of just the phone speaker, plus a quick keyboard shortcut to summon the window when I'm heads down in another app. That alone would make it feel truly native.
@alpergrbzobpev so when in desktop mode the audio is routed to the mac, so if you want to distribute compute to the phone to play your youtube / media / phone calls, you can enjoy it in realtime with little to no latency over usb/wifi . also ive noted the keyboard shortcut custom binding, i think this would make productivity much better once go through the learning curve of what are the keys for the functions
Finally a real fix after Samsung dropped DeX on Mac. The drag-and-resize feels native, not like another janky mirror app. Genuinely useful.
This is a great fill-in for the DeX gap on Mac. One thing that would make it way more useful for me: native keyboard shortcuts to switch between phone and Mac focus, plus the option to keep the phone window pinned above other apps when I'm juggling tasks. Right now alt-tabbing back to a browser mid-session feels jarring.
Would love to see keyboard shortcuts for switching between Samsung DeX and Pixel desktop profiles, since I bounce between a Z Fold and a Pixel for testing and the menu bar dropdown is getting tedious.
