What should a true personal academic assistant actually do?

Most student AI tools begin with an empty prompt box. They can answer questions, but they do not understand the student’s wider academic life.

A true personal academic assistant should already know:

• Which courses you are taking

• What materials, notes, and annotations belong to each course

• Your deadlines, todos, and upcoming exams

• Which concepts you understand and where you are struggling

• What you should study next and why

It should connect planning with learning: remind you about an approaching deadline, find the relevant course material, explain the concept, generate focused practice, and update your study priorities based on your performance.

This is the direction we are exploring with Pexorio. Rather than building another chatbot, we want to create a persistent academic companion that understands a student’s context throughout the semester.
