PBOM (Prompt Bill of Materials) Spec

by•

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

When an AI application breaks, hallucinates, or gets injected, tracing the root cause is a nightmare. What was the exact system prompt? Which version of the model was called? What were the exact parameters?

In traditional software, we solved this visibility problem with the SBOM (Software Bill of Materials).

To bring that same engineering and security rigor to AI, my team at Eqo is open-sourcing the PBOM (Prompt Bill of Materials) Spec.

It’s a standardized, machine-readable manifest (JSON/YAML) that tracks the complete genealogy of your AI prompts—so you always have a verifiable source of truth for what is running in production.

We are building Eqo to be the governance and verification layer for agentic code, and open-sourcing this standard is step one.

Would love your feedback: Check out the GitHub repo, read the spec, and let me know what you think! 🚀
