Now we're launching a new feature within Radar: trends. Trends includes category charts for TV shows, movies, video games, guest appearances, and more. See exactly what changed, when it changed, and why. Add a 'breaking' filter to easily spot the newest trending topics. You can also create alerts for entities included in trending lists.

Hello! It's Sara here from Particle. Last week, we launched Radar: The Podcast Search Engine, and today we are launching a new feature within Radar: Trends.
Radar lets you search 130,000+ podcasts, with 20,000 episodes added daily. Now with Trends, you can see at a glance what's being discussed, and why. We're showing overall trends, as well as category trends for TV, Movies, Video Games, and Guests, and there are more categories coming soon.
A little bit about how it works
Radar finds trends from Particle's podcast corpus. Every entity that Particle tracks is measured against its own history of mentions across podcasts, and then compared with other entities. We don’t just look at total mentions (if we did, inherently popular topics like Taylor Swift or Artificial Intelligence would trend every day). By measuring the entity against its own unique baseline, Radar filters out everyday popular topics to identify when a niche topic or breakout story experiences a surge in chatter.
A story that has been building for a week and a story that broke this morning will both chart, while a story that has already peaked will begin to fall away. How many shows are mentioning the topic, how often, and how recently all paint a picture of which topics are rising further above the rest. This way, Radar can surface a breaking story about Aaron Donald coming out of retirement, right alongside the slower build of NFL talk as the season begins.
Radar brings it all together by finding a podcast quote to tell you the story so that you can hear what people are saying, with citations back to the exact moments in the episodes.
