Parasocial is now FREE on every device. Every feature unlocked.

Thanks to everyone who supported us. We met a crucial milestone and decided to make the app completely free. You can choose to support us with our new supporter tier, but every feature remains behind the gate, and it's going to stay that way. If you haven't tried the best podcast player around, now is your chance. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/parasocial-a-podcast-player/id6792017587

congrats on reaching that milestone. Just a quick note, I think you meant to say "every feature remains unlocked" or "free from behind the gate" as it stands it sounds like everything's still locked up. I'm really enjoying the app though. Big cheers on making it fully free.

@sadie_scottt Good advice. Changed it. Thank you. Lol.
making every feature free is a pretty big change. it’s nice that the supporter tier doesn’t lock anything anyway,

@aaron_ross_ Yeah. When I first started building this app, I thought it would have me as a customer and maybe a few others, and I'd charge $3 a month to make sure that I covered my expenses. But seeing the response made me realize that there's actually room for a premium player, and even with my super-fast polling, I'm not breaking the bank. So let's just see how many users we can get, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The supporter tier is the part I would watch. On the Mac apps I work on, the people who pay when they do not have to are the ones who tell you what to build next. Good call keeping everything unlocked.
@paulgeller I'm curious about the milestone you mentioned. What happened you feel comfortable making the whole app free? There's probably a good story behind that decision.

@vincent__fisher I was looking to see if we could get 100 active users in our first week, and we did that. That to me was enough proof that there's demand for what we're building. It's not just a product for me, so to speak.
The reason we decided to make it free was because it's sort of part of our thesis. Podcasts are built on an open-source framework. The two biggest podcast players, Spotify and Apple, are both free. If you want to create a premium experience and make it massive, you have to compete on every level. I think we've built the fastest, most feature-rich player in the market. Let's see if I can take some market share from Spotify. That's basically it for me. I think there's room for a premium player, and I want to take market share.
