Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I built Parallax/Print to make perspective installations easier to plan and print—especially for awkward corners and spaces where a conventional flat picture doesn’t fit. You enter the dimensions, choose a viewing position and arrange your artwork in 3D. The app calculates the distorted pieces and exports printable PDFs with calibration sheets and an assembly guide. From the chosen viewpoint, those pieces come together as one image. Everything is processed locally in your browser, without an account or uploading your artwork to a server. The source is available under Apache 2.0. This is an early release: please verify print scale and calibration before installing. The launch video combines real app footage with AI-generated installation concepts. I’d love feedback on the editor and printing workflow—and to see what happens when people try it in their own spaces.
How did Astra change the scope or ambition of what you built?
Astra made me more ambitious about building a complete product. With Parallax/Print, I could tackle the whole workflow: geometric projection across walls and a floor, interactive 3D editing, local project storage, printable PDFs, calibration sheets and assembly guides. I also took it through deployment and released a clean, Apache-2.0-licensed codebase. The biggest change was being able to move between engineering, design and verification within the same project. That gave me room to focus on how someone would actually use it in a constrained physical space. It didn’t eliminate the need for judgment, I still had to challenge incorrect geometry and misleading generated visuals. It expanded what I could attempt, while making careful review more important.
