PanDev Metrics (Personal) - See how you really code. Every session, every file

by
PanDev Metrics helps developers and teams understand how work actually happens. We collect real activity from IDE, Git and task trackers instead of asking people to fill timesheets. You get a clean view of focus time, context switching and delivery trends. No screen recording or keystroke spying, just actionable metrics built by developers.

Hey Product Hunt, I’m Arthur, co-founder and CTO of PanDev Metrics. I led engineering teams for years and kept running into the same problem. It was hard to understand how work was really going without turning into a micromanager. Timesheets are fake, standups are biased, and most “developer monitoring” tools feel like surveillance. We built PanDev Metrics to give developers and teams a truthful but respectful view of their work. We collect real activity from IDE, Git and task trackers and turn it into clear signals: focus time, context switching, delivery trends, bottlenecks. No screen recording, no keylogging, no line-of-code scoring. The project started as an internal tool for our own team. Over time we tightened the privacy model (devs see detailed personal data, managers see aggregated views), cut noisy metrics, and focused only on insights that are actually actionable. Today we’re launching the first public version. I’d love feedback from engineering leaders and individual devs: what would you want to measure, which integrations matter most, and what kind of metrics feel creepy or useless for you? Happy to answer any questions in the comments and share more about our data model, privacy approach, or roadmap.

This is really awesome. Are the data stored as per the GDPR standards?

@chilarai Thanks for the question!

We’re not formally GDPR-certified yet, but we’re building with GDPR principles from day one and are working toward full compliance. We’ll share an update once that’s done.

PanDev Metrics never sends your source code anywhere, only high-level metadata like timestamps, event types and, at most, filenames, so your code can’t be reconstructed from our data. Our goal is to stay very conservative with data and keep the product both useful and safe for devs.
