For years I've had the same problem. Voice memos I record and never open again. Notes scattered across three or four apps. A "great idea" from three months ago that I know I had, but now can't find and definitely never acted on. I don't think that's an attention problem. I think every tool we use was built to help us capture more, not use what we already captured.

@irahimiam Congrats on the launch! I like how you led with the problem (the notes graveyard, the idea you know you had but can't find) instead of a feature list. Most tools pitch "capture more" and hope usefulness follows; you're betting on the opposite, that the value was already sitting there unused. That's a much harder, much smarter position to build from.
I KNOW I've got more than a few voice memos that I've never gone back to. So yeah, I feel this one!

Congrats on the launch! I've been playing with it since this morning, dropped in a handful of voice notes and it connected two of them I'd never have linked myself. That "surfaces before you go looking" claim is the part that actually works. Question for the team: how does it decide what's worth surfacing vs. what stays quiet?

Short version: relevance beats novelty. A connection surfaces when it collides with something live a decision you're circling, a pattern that keeps repeating, a contradiction between what you captured then and what you're doing now. Interesting-but-idle links stay quiet; the map holds them until they matter. The bar we spent the year tuning: if it surfaces, you should be able to act on it today. If it can't clear that, it waits.

We keep the threshold intentionally high so weaker connections stay quiet rather than creating noise. We’re still tuning that balance, so feedback like this is incredibly helpful.

On what surfaces: the bar isn't "are these related," it's "would linking them change your thinking." Topically similar notes usually just add noise, so they stay quiet. What gets promoted is tension or convergence; two notes circling the same idea from different angles, or ones that quietly contradict each other. It also weighs how far apart they were in time and whether they share real concepts vs. generic keywords. When in doubt, it stays quiet; we'd rather under-surface than teach you to ignore it.
Still tuning that threshold, so if anything ever feels like noise, that's gold for us.

We treat surfacing as a confidence decision, not simply a search result. A connection needs to be relevant to what’s active now, supported by enough context, and useful enough to act on. When that confidence is low, it stays quiet. We’d rather miss an interesting link than interrupt you with a meaningless one.

My honest answer to why this product works: it survived five people's instincts. No VP of Product breaks ties for us we had to agree, out loud, on every piece that mattered before it got built. Slower in the moment, faster overall. Everything in the app earned its place through a real argument.
What we kept coming back to: capture was never the problem. Every one of us had built a careful system and quietly abandoned it, because keeping it up had become a second job. Ovandor does the part everyone abandons you talk, write, or drop in a doc, and it synthesizes how that connects to everything you've already captured, then surfaces the connection when it matters, not when you go looking.

Three years ago I had a voice memo folder with over 400 recordings and I'd listened back to maybe six of them.
