What should outbound start with: the company or the contact?
I’ve been thinking about this question a lot while building OppStream.
Most outbound starts with a list of companies or contacts and then asks:
“Who should I reach out to?”
But I think there’s a better starting point:
“Which companies actually have a reason to buy from me right now?”
Maybe they’re hiring. Maybe they just raised funding. Maybe they’re expanding, entering a new market, changing leadership, or showing another signal that could indicate a potential buying opportunity.
Then you find the right people inside that company.
That thinking is a big part of why we built OppStream.
I’m curious: when you do outbound today, what comes first for you?
A target account list
A specific contact/person
A buying signal
Something else
Would love to hear how other salespeople and GTM teams approach this.
