openHAB 5.2 - Summer release with powerful improvements

by•
This version is loaded with features worthy of a major release! *Secure support for AI agents to control, edit, and monitor your home system, e.g., Agents can create rules that only fire once and are automatically deleted afterwards, build and modify Main UI pages, or track down problems, even in the logs. *LLM-powered chat for natural language interaction. *Improvements to the Setup Wizard. *Accessing the logs across all pages on the Main UI. *Using mobile devices as voice satellites. + More

I'm super excited to see all the things packed in this version. My top 2 features are the option to use mobile devices to control openHAB via voice, and the Model Context Protocol that allows AI agents to do really useful things in a secure way. I'm usually not the fan of AI-izing everything, and have been skeptic, until now, on how AI could be safely integrated in a truly useful way on smart home systems, but there are situations when asking "the system" to create a one-off rule on-the-fly could be quite useful. I'm looking forward to trying some of the improvements on my instance.
