Hey everyone, I m Khazar, the maker of Open Painter. It s a free, open-source 3D texturing tool inside Blender, and we re getting ready to launch.
Before talking about features, I d love to hear about your actual workflow.
When you re texturing a model, where does the process become frustrating? Setting up materials? Managing layers and masks? Getting believable wear? Moving between applications? Or something completely different?
Tell me about the last asset you worked on and the part that took more effort than it should have.
Open Painter is a free, open-source 3D texturing studio inside Blender. Paint across 8 material channels, build non-destructive layers, and customise 50 editable smart materials. Add mesh-aware masks and procedural aging, bake mesh maps, and export for Unreal or Unity without switching apps. Core texturing works offline with no account. Optional AI turns material descriptions into editable layers, not just flat images.
