Update: Olwaty looked too much like a playlist

by•

Olwaty still looked too much like a playlist. We didn’t like that.

A playlist works after someone has already decided to watch. It doesn’t give the series a way to make the case for itself.

A series needs a place before episode one—and a way to travel as a whole.

Somewhere a creator or curator can show what the series is, why it is worth starting, and where the story is going.

What we changed

We built the Series Gateway Page:
a customizable, shareable page between discovery and episode one.

The page can carry:

  • A highlight video

  • Scene posters

  • A written introduction or story context

  • An ordered episode journey

  • One link for the complete series

The viewer gets the whole context before deciding whether to start.

Create or collect → Share one link → Series Gateway → Episode 1

Built to be passed on

A creator can send a complete series directly to viewers.

A viewer can collect related videos, arrange them as a series, and share the whole curation with someone else.

Creator → Viewer
Viewer → Viewer

The link carries the context, order, and path into episode one—not just a single video.

Then the player gets out of the way

We also rebuilt the mobile player.

Once viewing begins, the browsing interface disappears and the video takes over the screen. The series structure remains connected without sitting beside the video like a playlist.

Viewers get:

  • An immersive, full-screen player

  • The current episode context

  • The next episode one tap away

  • A continuous path through the series

The gateway is built for choosing and sharing.
The player is built for staying.

What this changes

Before
Send one video and hope they find the rest.

Now
Send the whole series—with its context and order intact.

Share → Series Gateway → Episode 1 → Immersive series viewing

A series can now turn a recommendation into a reason to start—and carry the viewer into the rest of the story.

We’re not trying to build a prettier playlist.

We’re building the missing infrastructure for online video series to be collected, presented, shared, started, and watched as a whole.

The current version is live in Korean.
