👋 Hey Product Hunt! I'm Rohit, the creator of Observer. Observer started from a frustration I kept running into every day. Whether I was in a team meeting, technical discussion, sales call, recruiting conversation, online class, or interview, AI could help—but actually using it meant switching apps, copying context, and constantly breaking my focus. By the time I got an answer, the conversation had already moved on. I wanted AI to stay out of the way until I needed it. So I built Observer—a keyboard-first AI desktop companion that listens to conversations, understands what's happening on your screen, and gives you contextual answers, assistance, and meeting recaps in real time. One of the biggest ideas behind Observer is that every conversation is different. Instead of using the same prompt for everything, Observer supports Instructions that adapt its behavior to your workflow. Whether you're in a sales call, technical interview, recruiting session, team meeting, lecture, or customer demo, it understands the goal of the conversation and responds accordingly. You can also provide additional context by attaching PDFs before a meeting—a resume for interviews, a job description for recruiting, a product brochure for sales, documentation for technical discussions, lecture notes, or any other reference material. That extra context helps Observer generate more relevant and personalized responses. Since many of us spend our day sharing our screens, I also built Stealth Mode, allowing Observer to stay hidden during screen sharing while remaining instantly accessible through keyboard shortcuts whenever you need it. Building Observer has been one of the hardest and most rewarding projects I've worked on. Making real-time transcription reliable, combining live audio with screen understanding, keeping latency low, and making the experience feel effortless required months of iteration and countless late nights. Honestly the real-time answers during calls are pretty smooth, way less awkward than juggling a notes app on the side. Surprised it actually stayed invisible on screen the whole time.

honestly the undetectable aspect is what sold me, tested it in a few calls and it didn't glitch once. also kinda nice having notes ready before the meeting even ends.

The focus on undetectability is a smart call, a lot of meeting tools forget that the people on the other end notice when something sounds robotic. Curious how it handles edge cases like fast cross-talk or strong accents in real time.

 Thanks! That was actually one of the biggest things we cared about while building Observer.

For speech-to-text we're using one of the most accurate real-time transcription services available today, so it's been very reliable in our testing across supported languages and different English accents. Fast cross-talk is always a challenging scenario for any STT system, but for normal meetings, interviews, and calls it performs really well in real time.

We're continuously improving it as we gather more real-world usage, so feedback like this is super valuable. 🙌

honestly this looks super useful for back to back calls, one thing though - would be great if observer could sync notes straight into notion or google docs automatically, right now im guessing you have to export them somewhere? that one step feels like it would break the flow

Right now there's no automatic Notion or Google Docs sync. Observer do have a one-click Copy Meeting Notes button, so you can paste the formatted notes wherever you want without exporting files.

Native integrations are definitely on the roadmap though—I agree that removing even that extra step would make the workflow much smoother.

the name "Observer" is honestly pretty clever, kinda fits that whole stealth vibe they're going for

I've spent way more time than I'd like to admit thinking about the name and then finding an already available domain name. The goal was to capture the idea of quietly understanding what's happening around you and helping only when you need it, so I'm glad that came across.
