Hi, Product Hunt!

I’m Luis, Product Director of Developer Experience at NMI. A year ago, this role didn’t even exist. But after 25 years in business, and my nearly 10 years here in engineering, we knew it was time to reset and build the kind of developer experience for payments we’d want ourselves.

I never loved hitting a wall of “book a sales call”, endless forms, or a maze of integration steps, so we built a new developer experience for our payments platform, making embedded payments simple and integrations straightforward.

What you can do now

  • Build the modern way - Clean APIs and docs designed for today’s workflows, including AI-assisted ones.
Get instant sandbox access - No merchant account. No sales calls. Just start building and testing.

  • Follow docs built around your use case - Get curated guides that fit your business model, not a one-size-fits-all integration.

  • Drop in payments fast - Use our hosted pages or embeddable components and go live with just a few lines of code.

  • Choose your dev mode - Start simple with no-code or low-code tools, then move to full API control when you’re ready.

  • Monetize your code - Turn the payments running through your software into revenue with clear pricing and transparent fund flows.

Who it’s for

If you’ve built a SaaS platform that works with businesses and:

  • Let customers bring their own payment processors

  • Support payments but don’t earn from them

  • Want to add subscriptions or recurring billing

Need a modular payments setup that can scale with your growth

Then this launch is for you.

We built this for developers, from experienced engineers to low-code builders who want to add payments without all the friction. Our goal is to give you the same flexibility and deep functionality NMI is known for, but in a way that’s faster and easier to use.

I’d love your feedback. Try it out, see what you think, and tell us what works, what’s rough, or what you’d like to see next.

Thanks, Product Hunt!

Amelia Brooks

I’ve been working with NMI for a while now, and this update feels like a massive improvement. It’s so much easier to get started

Luis Peña

@amelia_brooks3 Really appreciate the partnership Amelia, we have even more updates planned where this came from and would love your feedback!

Brent Kom

this looks amazing! Finally, a payments API that doesn’t make you jump through hoops with sales calls. 😅 I’m really loving it!

Luis Peña

@brent_kom3344 Thanks Brent, that's exactly what we were going for!

Liz Harris

Couldn’t be prouder to see this out in the wild @luispena! The team’s built something that genuinely puts developers first, and it’s been an honour to play a small part in bringing NMI Payments to life. Can’t wait to see the feedback roll in!

Luis Peña

@liz_harris1 Thank you so much!

Salim Myely

Hmm, “embed payments in hours” sounds a little too good to be true, but I’m definitely curious to give it a shot. 👀

Luis Peña

@salim_myely I know right? Give it a shot and let us know how it goes! We're here for feedback!

Salma Ghana

I tried the sandbox earlier today, and it actually worked right off the bat—no forms or unnecessary hassle. Great job on that!

Luis Peña

@salma_ghana Great to hear! Thank you!

Anisa Jamal

It looks good, but I’d love to see more examples for different SaaS models, not just the usual checkout stuff.

Luis Peña

@anisa_jamal Hi Anisa! I've love to hear more. Are you looking for examples like recurring subscriptions or consumption billing?

Avery Taylor

Works fine but would be nice to have more customization options.

Luis Peña

@avery_taylor3 Hi! Thank you for that feedback, I would love to hear would you like to be able to customize so we can make sure we can support it. We do have a component studio and full storybook support to customize our embedded component to match the look and feel of your software.

Ms Donna Light

The documentation looks solid so far, but I wish there were more code samples in various languages, not just JavaScript.

Luis Peña

@donna_light012 Hello! Our API documentation has various languages available and our embedded component guides focus on JS for the fronted. For the backend we currently have JS, Python, Java, .NET (C#), PHP, and PHP (Laravel) available. Let me know what else you'd like to see and we can get it added in!
