NetQMon - Traffic monitoring and app identification for OpenWrt

by•
NetQmon is an open-source, self-hosted network visibility platform for OpenWrt and home networks. It goes beyond bandwidth charts by identifying devices, applications, services, and traffic destinations. NetQmon combines eBPF traffic collection with domain, IP, ASN, signatures, and nDPI classification. NetQmon Cloud adds continuously maintained application rules for more accurate identification.

Hi Product Hunt — I built NetQmon because I wanted better visibility into what was actually happening on my home network. Most router dashboards show bandwidth and connected devices, but they rarely tell you which apps or services are generating that traffic. NetQmon is designed to fill that gap. It’s open source, self-hosted, and built for OpenWrt. It uses eBPF for traffic collection and combines domain, IP, ASN, signatures, and nDPI to identify applications and services. NetQmon Cloud adds maintained rule datasets so application identification can keep improving without requiring users to manage large rule collections themselves. v1.0.0 is the first public release, so feedback is especially useful — particularly around OpenWrt compatibility, application identification accuracy, performance, and the overall UI. I’d be interested to hear how you currently monitor traffic on your home network and what you’d want NetQmon to support next.
