A networking tool should search your existing relationships before recommending strangers
When people have a new professional goal, most tools make it easier to find more names
I think that order is often backwards
Someone already in your network may have the context, trust, or path needed to help. The problem is not always a lack of contacts. It is that the relevant relationship is difficult to see when a new goal appears.
That is the workflow we designed Netlio around:
- start with a specific goal
- identify relevant people already in your network
- explain why they may matter now
- surface a credible path and a practical first message
- look outside your network only when the existing network is not enough
External discovery gives you more options. An existing relationship can reduce the cost of building trust from zero.
When a new goal appears, do you usually search your existing network first, or start looking for new people?
