Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Carsten, the solo founder behind NemoWorld. I built NemoChat and NemoConnect because I wanted a different approach to digital communication—one focused on privacy, transparency and independence instead of tracking and data collection. Every feature was developed with one question in mind: How can users stay in control of their own data? I'd love to hear your honest feedback, ideas and questions. Thank you for checking out Nemo! 😊

How does the direct connection work if both devices aren't on the same network, and is there any limit on file sizes you can sync?

Hi Cansu, Thank you for your question! 😊 NemoConnect works both within the same local network and securely over the internet. For example, you can connect from your iPhone using mobile data while your computer is connected to your home network, without relying on third-party cloud storage. At the moment, synchronization is limited to 10 JPEG images per transfer or files up to 100 MB. These limits are part of the current version and will evolve as the platform grows. Transfer speed mainly depends on the network quality and the size of the files being synchronized. Thanks again for your interest! If you have any other questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

How does it actually handle the initial pairing between iPhone and computer without relying on any cloud or account, and what happens if I want to connect from a different device later?

Hi Saliha, Thank you for your great question! 😊 The initial pairing is done directly between your devices without requiring a user account or any third-party cloud service. Once paired, the devices can securely communicate both within the same local network and over the internet. You’re not limited to just one combination. For example, you can securely connect Windows ↔ iPhone, Windows ↔ Android, Mac ↔ iPhone, Mac ↔ Android, Windows ↔ Windows, Mac ↔ Mac, or pair multiple mobile devices with the same computer. Each device is paired individually, giving you full control over which devices are authorized to connect. This flexible approach allows you to build your own trusted ecosystem while keeping your data under your control. Thanks again for your interest! 😊

The direct phone-to-computer pairing actually works without any account setup, which felt refreshingly simple. The local-first approach gives me peace of mind that my files aren't floating around someone else's servers.

Hi Sezer, Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback! 😊 I’m really happy to hear that. Keeping the setup simple while giving users full control over their own data has been one of the main goals from the very beginning. Privacy shouldn’t be something users have to configure afterwards—it should be part of the experience from the start. Thanks again for taking the time to try NemoWorld & NemoConnect!
