Hi Product Hunt community! πŸ‘‹ Update When we built My Own Compass, the goal was simple: create a private space where people can reflect, learn, and grow without giving away their personal thoughts to the cloud, offline first with AI is the foundation. Many users asked for a way to preserve and review their journey, so we built AI-powered PDF Export. Your reflections can now become a personal document, including an AI-generated retrospective that helps you discover patterns in your own growth. I love to hear from you

finally something that doesn't beg for an account the second i open it, and the on-device questions actually feel like they're pushing me to think instead of filling silence with affirmations.

Thank you, that means a lot. That was exactly the experience I wanted to create: no account, no cloud, no unnecessary friction, just a private space where the questions help you reflect rather than tell you what to think. I'm really glad that came across. Thanks for giving My Own Compass a try! If you're curious, my website explains much more about the philosophy behind the app. Just like the app, you can choose your preferred language, and yes, there are no cookies either. πŸ˜‰ If you enjoy using My Own Compass, I'd really appreciate a review on Google Play as well. There are no catches, and there are no plans to change that. Privacy and local-first use are fundamental principles of this app.

Local AI for journaling is something I've been waiting for, and this nails it. Liked that it nudges with questions instead of feeding me generic advice.

Thank you for sharing this. It is not about giving you ready-made answers or telling you what to think. It is about creating a moment of reflection where the right questions can help you discover your own insights. Sometimes those questions are comfortable, and sometimes they make you pause because they touch something deeper. But that is often where real reflection begins. Thank you for taking the time to explore your own thoughts with My Own Compass.

love the offline-by-default approach, especially the on-device AI and no account nonsense. one thing that would make me reach for it more often is a quick daily check-in flow, like a 60-second end-of-day prompt you can fire from a notification without opening the full app. would help the habit stick.

Hi there, and thank you very much for your reaction to the app. To help you remember your reflection moments, I have built in a notification option in the Local Settings section. If you visit my website, you can also find more information about the app and everything it offers.

After 24 years of military experience and a lifetime of lessons, I learned one important thing: Development starts with asking yourself the right questions. Not the easy questions. Not the questions where you already know the answer. But the ones that make you pause, reflect, and challenge your own perspective. What patterns keep returning in your life? What choices have shaped who you are today? Do you truly understand your own strengths, weaknesses, and the patterns that shape your decisions? And if you understand them, do you know when to use them? Do you know how to balance them and apply them at the right moment? These questions became the foundation of "My Own Compass". A reflection app built around personal development and competencies. Not to judge you. Not to tell you who you are. But to help you discover more about yourself. Because growth is not only knowing who you are. It is knowing how to use what you have. What is one question you believe everyone should ask themselves? #MyOwnCompass #PersonalDevelopment #SelfReflection #Leadership #ContinuousLearning
