MutualGPU - Turn spare GPU into someone else’s breakthrough.

MutualGPU is a free, community-powered compute network. People with capable hardware can share spare GPU capacity, while people without enough local compute can run demanding AI workloads. Our first integration (by GPT5.6) lets users generate 3D Gaussian Splats through TripoSplat WebGPU, either locally or through MutualGPU. We are building toward a world where unused compute becomes shared creative capacity, helping more people access AI, 3D generation, and tools their own devices cannot run.

We originally built this while trying to make AI-powered 3D generation run locally in the browser. (Check out our TripoSplatWebGPU launch) Then we realized the bigger opportunity wasn’t optimizing one application. It was connecting people. Somewhere, someone has an idle GPU. Somewhere else, someone has an idea they can’t execute because they lack compute. MutualGPU is an experiment in turning those idle cycles into opportunity. We’d love your feedback on where this network should go next.
How did GPT-5.6 change the ambition or scope of what you shipped?
GPT-5.6 changed the project from “build a demo” to “build infrastructure.” Originally, MutualGPU was simply a way to let someone else run TripoSplat WebGPU when your own machine wasn’t powerful enough. GPT-5.6 dramatically accelerated implementation, allowing us to prototype networking, browser workflows, UI, and supporting tooling in days instead of weeks. More importantly, it helped us recognize the larger pattern. The real product wasn’t remote execution for one application. It was a general network where unused personal compute could help someone else create. That shift expanded the vision from a single AI tool to a community-powered compute layer capable of supporting many AI workloads. GPT-5.6 wasn’t just a coding assistant; it became a thought partner that helped us iterate on architecture, test alternatives rapidly, and discover a more ambitious product than we originally set out to build.
