Hi Product Hunt! 👋

I'm excited to share Muro, a project I built because I wanted a beautiful, performant live wallpaper app for my Mac without being forced into a monthly subscription or dealing with heavy Electron apps.

Why Muro?

🔋 Insanely lightweight: Built natively with Swift, SwiftUI, and Apple's hardware video decoder. It averages 2% CPU and auto-pauses when a window covers it or when you're on battery power.

🌅 Smart Automations (New in 3.0!): Set live wallpapers to change on a timer, or map them to the time of day using a visual timeline.

🔒 Lock Screen Support: Your live wallpapers seamlessly extend to your lock screen.

📁 Bring Your Own: Use the built-in catalog of 116 wallpapers, updated regularly, or import your own videos.

Best of all: Muro is completely free and open-source (MIT). There are no trials, no accounts, and no paywalls. It's just a native tool built for the Mac community.

⚠️ One heads up: Muro isn't notarised yet, so macOS warns you on first open. Right click Muro in Applications, choose Open, then Open again. Once only. Or run,

brew install --cask MrRockySL/muro/muro

which skips the prompt entirely.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, answer any questions, and hear what features you'd like to see next! If you find it useful, a star on the GitHub repo or supporting the project via GitHub Sponsors is incredibly appreciated. ⭐
