We listened: Mindly just got a major update
Hey Product Hunt π
It's been 10 months since we launched Mindly here, and a lot has changed.
We've been heads-down building, listening to your feedback, and shipping, and today I'm excited to share what Mindly looks like now after a lot of changes:
What's new in this update:
π Faster everything: capture, search, and load times are significantly snappier. The shortcut feels instant now.
π§ Smarter AI: the auto-organization, tagging, and connection-finding are noticeably more accurate. Less noise, more signal.
β¨ Cleaner UI: we refined the interface top to bottom. Less clutter, better hierarchy, easier to navigate your second brain at a glance.
The core idea is still the same: hit a shortcut, capture anything, and let Mindly handle the rest. But now it actually feels like that promise is fully delivered.

If you tried Mindly before and moved on, this is a good time to give it another shot!
If you're new here: Mindly is a macOS app that captures links, thoughts, files, and voice notes, then auto-organizes, tags, summarizes, and connects them all together.

Would love to hear what you think, especially from anyone who's been using it since the first launch. What do you want to see next? π

Most apps in this category become messy after a few months. Cleaning the UI was a smart move.

@graham_lewis That's exactly the trap we wanted to avoid! Clutter creeps in fast when you're shipping fast. We've been really intentional about keeping the experience clean as we grow, it's something we care deeply about. Thanks for noticing! π
The difficult part with AI organization is trust. If it categorized things badly a few times, people stop relying on it.
Mindly
@bradley_simonΒ 100% agree, trust is everything with AI organization. One bad categorization and the whole thing feels unreliable. That's why we put a lot of work into accuracy with this update. Would love for you to give it a shot and let me know if anything feels off, that kind of feedback is genuinely how we make it better!
Voice notes usually become a dumping ground in apps like this. Curious how you handle retrieval later.
Mindly
@ashton_blakeΒ That's exactly the problem we wanted to solve Ashton! Voice notes in Mindly aren't just audio files sitting in a folder. Every note gets automatically transcribed, summarized and tagged just like any other item you capture. So when you're looking for something you said three weeks ago, you can actually search for it, and Mindly will surface it alongside related notes, links or files on the same topic. No more digging through recordings hoping you'll remember which one it was
A lot of second-brain tools optimize for saving information, not resurfacing it at the right time.
Mindly
@aurora_parkerΒ Such a sharp observation! That's actually a core part of what we've been thinking about. Saving is the easy part, resurfacing is where most tools fail. That's why Mindly automatically connects related items and clusters them by topic, so things you saved weeks ago bubble back up when they're relevant, not just when you go digging for them. The graph view is especially good for those "oh I forgot I had that" moments
Voice note organization sounds especially interesting to me because those usually become impossible to search later. If the AI can truly connect spoken ideas accurately, that could save a lot of time
Mindly
@lakeesha_weatherwaxΒ You nailed it exactly! That "black hole" problem with voice notes is real. The whole idea is that once something is captured in Mindly it stops being a voice note and just becomes a searchable idea, connected to everything related
Impressive to see the growth since the initial launch 10 months ago. What was the 'dealbreaker' feature users were asking for that finally made it into this update?
Mindly
@rivra_devΒ Thank you! Honestly, the one thing we kept hearing was: "I love the idea but organizing still takes too much of my time". That hit hard, because that's exactly the problem Mindly is supposed to solve. So this update was laser-focused on making the AI do more of the heavy lifting. Smarter tagging, better categorization, faster connections, so users can just capture and move on without thinking twice about where things land. Time saved on organization is the whole point
@o1echkaa What's the privacy situation likeβis all this data being processed locally on my machine or in the cloud?
