I’m Harshpreet, and today I’m launching Maclip — a native, private clipboard manager for macOS built for people who live on their keyboards.
Why I built Maclip
I originally built Maclip a few months ago for myself. Coming from Windows, I really missed having a clipboard that pops up right where I'm typing — without having to look down at the dock, up at the menu bar, or invoke Spotlight. Along with that, I wanted power-user features like shorthand snippets and paste stacks.
I shared the early version with my colleagues and they loved it, which pushed me to take it further. I've spent the past month polishing it, and here we are!
What makes Maclip different:
⚡ At-Cursor HUD (⌘⇧V): Your clipboard opens right where you’re typing. No breaking flow, jumping to Spotlight, or clicking menu bars.
📚 Paste Stack: Copy several things in a row, then paste them in order one by one — perfect for filling forms or migrating data.
✂️ Snippets & Expansion: Type short abbreviations (like ;email or ;addr) and expand them anywhere into multiline text with dynamic dates.

🤖 Local MCP Server: Let Claude, Cursor, or other AI tools interact with your clipboard locally, with explicit approval required for every request.
