๐Ÿš€ Tomorrow: Lums AI โ€“ The Accounting Engine

byโ€ข

Hi PH community! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Weโ€™ve all been there: you transfer money between your savings and checking, and suddenly your budgeting app thinks you just "spent" that money twice. Your net worth looks like a rollercoaster, and the AI assistant gives you advice based on bad math.

Lums changes that with a real Accounting Engine:

  • Verified Transfers: Automatic matching ensures your spending is never double-counted.

  • Infinite History: We store your data forever, no more 90-day limits!

  • Deterministic AI: Answers based on 100% verified facts, not messy guesses.

Mathematically guaranteed budgeting. Weโ€™re going live tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6th!

Hope to see you there! ๐Ÿš€

Iโ€™m especially curious about how your system distinguishes between real expenses and movement of funds

@new_user___0932026a86e905cf4b2b7f7ย  @frances_diazon This is exactly the kind of detail we care a lot about in Lums.

We use a double-entry accounting approach to understand the real nature of each transaction. In practice, that means Lums looks at whether money is actually leaving your financial system, or simply moving between your own accounts.

So, for example, if you move money from checking to savings, or pay off a credit card from your bank account, Lums treats that as a transfer between asset/liability accounts, not as new spending or income.

The important part is visibility: when Lums can see both accounts involved, it can match both sides of the movement and avoid counting it as an expense. This helps keep your reports cleaner and your spending insights much more accurate.

And this has nothing to do with AI. Itโ€™s simply about how the data is modeled. The advantage of having a solid underlying accounting model is that AI also has less room to hallucinate, because the model itself becomes the source of truth.
