Deploy a dedicated server as fast as a VPS
Hey, everyone!
Quick story behind this launch.
For us, the thing that always made dedicated servers painful was the wait. You order one, then you sit for hours or days while it gets racked and provisioned somewhere. Meanwhile a VPS spins up in seconds, and everyone just accepted that gap as normal.
We never liked it. LumaDock has owned and run its own hardware for 17 years, so when we built our bare metal product the goal was simple: make a single-tenant server come up almost as fast as a virtual one. Pre-provisioned enterprise hardware from Dell and HPE, automated the rest, and now the order-to-running gap is minutes instead of days.
The other deliberate choice was keeping it on one account. A lot of our customers run a VPS for the app, a GPU instance for inference and now a dedicated server for the database, and managing three providers and three invoices for that is genuinely annoying. So it's just one login and one bill.
I am most interested in hearing from people who run dedicated infrastructure today.... When you pick a host, what actually decides it for you? Provisioning speed, network quality, hardware, support, price? We have opinions on the order, but I would rather hear yours.
Happy to answer anything technical about how the fast provisioning works!
Best,
Andrei-LumaDock
