Luma launches tomorrow. Ask me anything!
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I’m Merlin, the maker of Luma. Luma launches here tomorrow, October 24, and I’d love to talk with you before and during launch day.
Why I built it
Streaming is convenient, but a lot of music lives outside the big services: Bandcamp purchases, CD rips, FLAC collections, live recordings, DJ sets. On iPhone there was no good way to play that music without a cloud account, a subscription or a clunky file browser. So I built the player I wanted myself.
What Luma does
• Plays your own music files offline: FLAC, ALAC, MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF and Opus, natively and without conversion
• Sorts everything into albums, artists and songs automatically
• Gapless playback, crossfade, a 10-band EQ, volume normalization and synced lyrics
• Playlists, smart playlists, listening stats and a sleep timer
• On Mac, Luma is a full player and sends your library to your iPhone over Wi-Fi or USB
• No account, no ads, no tracking. Nothing leaves your device
Pricing:
Luma for iPhone and iPad is free. Luma for Mac is free to try for 30 days, then a one-time purchase of 39 €. No subscription.
I’d love your feedback
Luma is a solo project, and your input shapes what comes next. Ask me anything, and I’m especially curious about:
• How do you listen to your own music collection today?
• Which feature would make you switch to Luma?
• Anything that feels confusing or missing when you try it?
I’ll answer every comment. Thanks for stopping by! 🎧
