Local - A beautiful, free app for developing WordPress sites locally

by
Local is the #1 free, local WordPress development tool, now with the ability to push to Flywheel and WP Engine. We make it super simple to spin up a local WordPress site, develop it, share it, and take it live. Available for Mac, Windows and Linux.

Hey Product Hunt! Thanks for checking out Local 🎉. I’m super proud of the work that our team has done to invest in the future of this product, and over the last six months, we’ve assessed our role in the WordPress community and where Local fits in. Thanks to the smaller file size and requirements of our newest release, Local is now easier to install and runs wonderfully on low-end PCs, increasing access to great development tools (like Connect to Flywheel and WP Engine). This means more developers will be able to start building WordPress locally than ever before, and we’re so excited to continue empowering the community to create great work. I can’t wait to hear what you think, and feel free to drop any questions you may have below! ⬇️

I’ve been using Local for a long time and it’s changed how I work with WordPress. The new release is extremely fast and handles big sites like a champ. Now that WPE owns Flywheel, this product should continue to grow for years to come.

huge thanks!

The WP Engine integration works flawlessly. It also runs quickly compared to other GUI local WordPress development environments I've used in the past. It's easy enough for just about any web designer or developer to use, which is really quite something. Almost zero configuration needed.

I've been using Local for a couple of months and I'm very impressed how easy is to setup a dev environment with it. Definitely recommend!

Came here to upvote. Been using local for over a year and love it. Fits really well into my workflow.
Are multi-site/multi-network deployments working as of yet? I like Local and have been following them for a while now. Looking forward to trying it on my network. :)

@stef_b You can create multisites in Local, but we're still working on supporting multisite for Local Connect (push/pull)
