I'm Zimraan, one of the co-founders of LifeCycle. We're three uni students who got tired of seeing small businesses lose money on expired products.
The backstory: During my retail work experience, I watched business owners manually track expiration dates with pen and paper. One morning, we had to throw out $300 worth of expired products that got missed. That's when I realized - if this happens in one small store, imagine the waste across thousands of businesses in Sydney alone.
What we built: LifeCycle is a dead-simple inventory management system focused on one thing - making sure businesses never miss an expiration date again. No complex features, no steep learning curve. Just scan your products, get notified before they expire, save money.
The twist: We're building a community-powered barcode database. When the first user scans a new product, they help identify it for every future user. The system gets smarter with each scan! 🚀
Currently: We're in beta with a few Sydney businesses who've already caught products they would've missed. With NSW's new food waste regulations coming in 2026, we see a huge opportunity to help businesses stay compliant while saving money.
We'd love your feedback on:
- Is the problem we're solving real for you?
- Our pricing model (keeping it simple with just 2 tiers)
- The community barcode approach - innovative or concerning?
- Features you'd want to see next
Ask us anything! We're here all day and genuinely excited to hear your thoughts. 🙌
P.S. If you know any small business owners struggling with inventory, we'd love to chat with them!
