LensUp - Free PDF editor, scanner and passport photos in your browser

by•
Every online form has rules: a scanned PDF, a 35×45 mm photo, a file under 200 KB, a filled-in and signed PDF. LensUp does all of it free, without sign-up. The scanner, passport photo, compression and PDF editor tools work on your files in your browser. New since our first launch in July: the PDF editor, PDF to scanned PDF, and a redesigned site.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm Yan, and I built LensUp. It started with forms. Visa portals, university applications, the bank: they all want "a scanned copy, PDF, under 200 KB", a 35×45 mm photo, or a form filled in and signed, and most people don't own a scanner anymore. The usual answer is a free converter site, which means your passport ends up on a server you know nothing about. So LensUp does the fiddly parts in the browser tab: • Scan: photograph a page, it straightens it, whitens the paper and exports a PDF • Passport photo: 35×45 crop with head and eye guides, an optional white, blue or red background, and an A4 sheet with 20 copies • Compress: aim a PDF at 200 KB, 500 KB or your own limit, and see the real size it reached • ID card: front and back on one page at real card size • PDF editor: type on any PDF (Persian and Arabic come out right to left), add a picture of your signature, ticks, dates and highlights, fill in the PDF's own form fields, and turn, reorder or delete pages The scanner, passport photo, compression and PDF editor tools never send your file anywhere. All of the above is free, with no sign-up and no watermark, and the site is in 20 languages. Honest limits: the PDF editor can't change text that's already in the PDF, and Cover only hides what's under it. Corner detection needs page edges that stand out from the background, the passport tool has no face detection (you frame the crop yourself), and compression is best effort. What's the most annoying upload rule you've run into? I'm collecting them.
