Hey Product Hunt! I’m the maker of Lenscribe.
Screenshots, receipts, and scans are easy to save and hard to find later when the filename tells you nothing.
Lenscribe watches your folders, extracts text using your choice of vision model, and saves that text inside each image file while preserving the original image bytes. The text stays with the file.
Search it with ripgrep (rg), ugrep (ug), The Silver Searcher (ag), grep, ack, or sift, then browse the matching results with fzf. You can also use the local API or inspect and edit extracted text in the app.
Connect a local model through Ollama or use a hosted provider. Once extraction is enabled, Lenscribe works quietly in your system tray.
It's free and open source under the MIT license, with downloads for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Hosted providers may charge separately for API usage.
This is an early release, and I’d love your feedback. What would you want to make searchable first?
