Probably one of the coolest things I've seen in quite a while. Not sure if there are other like this, but definitely a need for products like this in the cannabis industry.

Congrats. Looks very cool. Seems to be very similar to @geteverblume (geteverblume.com). What's your differentiator in what may soon become a crowded space? Any thoughts on developing a product for commercial use vs just 1 for personal?

@jhtdc Thanks Jason. We've seen several companies building grow boxes, Everblume looks like a similar spec. I think in the end what will matter is who can manufacture a quality product. Going from prototype to manufactured product is quite the leap. We've thought about commercial versions but thats a totally different beast, lets get this product out the door first and then see where we go ;)

I have zero interest in marijunana, but are there any growing systems for growing food in your apt?
Jonathan (Yoni) Ofir
@joshdance Hey Joshua, Leaf can also grow the highest quality food as well! We have grow recipes for different veggies and herbs.

Looks very cool! What are the main obstacles for this product in terms of operation? will it be only available in some countries in the US?
orliesaurus
@jodoron states not countries :)

This looks like it could really help patients with physical limitations be able to grow, or parents who don't know much about it but need a specific strain for their kid. Finding one specific strain can be tough on patients who live in remote areas and growing can take a lot of effort to get a medical grade quality, this has potential to help with that. I hope you don't mind my questions :) It looks like it holds one plant are there any plans for more? 4 - 8 oz per plant can you set the settings to favor quality over quantity? Is it easy to grow a lot or does it help you grow top top shelf quality? Some dispensaries in Colorado offer grow help to patients do you have plans for plant support? It might be harder to get help if you don't have as much control over it or if they aren't familiar with it as a system. Is there a manual override so a grower could change chemical settings? Can custom blends of nutrients be refilled into the boxes? Many people start growing by asking their dispensary what they recommend to grow at home because they trust them. Saying 4 - 8 oz per plant is cool but what would really sell it would be if you had plants tested by certified labs. If you could say an new grower grew "4 oz of X strain at Y% THC and Z% CBD" compared to a dispensary that grew the same strain from the same seed pack or mother, it would really help people know the quality it helps you produce. Would it freeze on a porch, balcony or garage in a Colorado winter during a snow storm? How loud is it? If a commercial grow had a dozen of these would they pass certification? Plants need love, can it play them music? let the grower talk to them? :) If you stay patient focused you can't go wrong and people will know the difference. There are two distinct marijuana industries and the people who stay dedicated to helping people are the ones that succeed. If you live in Colorado you might know a budtender or dispensary owner who really are in it to help people and have some amazing stories about people who live significantly better lives with the help of marijuana. Don't let bad attitudes discourage you!

@joshuawilluhn Thanks for all the great questions. You can put 1-4 plants in a Leaf, but we highly recommend 1 plant because its easier to grow and doesn't get as crowded. Plus, if you try to put in tall growing and short growing strains it becomes a mess! In a grow space the size we are working with and with specific lighting you will pretty much yield the same amount with 1 or 4 plants. Quality is always in mind as we are able to give the precise environment throughout the grow, including nutrients. In our tests we maximize the potential of the genetics we use every time. We will have grow support baked into the app throughout every stage of growth. Meaning if there are any issues you'll be able to figure them out via the app. You can change the amounts of nutrients being dosed from each pod, but not refill pods on your own. The reason is certain nutrients will either clog up the tubing (if using organic) or ruin the pumps (if using mineral). We've built the formulas to both be great for the plants but also work with the mechanics of the system. Anyone is welcome to use their own nutrients manually of course, but we need to maintain the integrity and quality of the hardware. As mentioned above, quality has been maximized with all the different genetics we've used. Official lab testing is on the way. Fun fact (or not so fun): in Colorado you can't get official lab testing done unless you are a licensed producer. Not sure why that is, because in California anyone can submit. Thanks for all the awesome questions, the goal has always been and still remains giving you the highest quality medicine and food, and that has led the engineering work from day one :) - Yoni
