Why I built KoiFiles: bringing an Explorer-style dual-pane file workbench to macOS
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
While Finder works for basic daily tasks, organizing files across multiple projects, moving things back and forth, and handling archives on macOS often means juggling half a dozen messy windows and third-party tools.
We built [KoiFiles (双鱼文件)](https://padap.cn/koifiles/en/) to bring a clean, lightweight, all-in-one file workbench to Apple Silicon:
• ◨ Dual-Pane Layout: Side-by-side or stacked explorer-style panes to organize at double speed
• 🗂 Native 7zz Archive Engine: Direct 7z / zip / tar handling and extraction without external apps
• 🧹 Independent Disk Cleaner: Scan junk, duplicate, and large files in a non-blocking background window
• 👁 Quick Gallery Preview: Draggable, floating preview window that never blocks your workflow
• 🔒 Privacy First: Native SwiftUI, no tracking, and no subscriptions
We are officially launching on Product Hunt next week!
Before launch day, we’d love to hear from fellow Mac power users:
What is your biggest daily friction with Finder, and what feature do you wish a Mac file manager had?

Thanks for checking out the thread! 🙌
To give you a quick glimpse of how it actually feels in action:
1. Side-by-side drag & drop: Move or batch-rename files without losing context.
2. Instant 7z/RAR peek: View archive contents directly without extracting everything to disk first.
3. Detached floating gallery: Keep image previews pinned on top while you sort.
