Turn your game controller into a musical instrument & create full songs with JoySynth! JoySynth is a Windows music application that transforms a USB game controller into a complete playable instrument. Use the analog sticks to select chords and notes, press the shoulder buttons to play, add drums with the D-pad, and build complete songs using the built-in loop recorder. JoySynth is designed to make creating music immediate, visual, and fun—even if you’ve never played a traditional keyboard.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Eric, the creator of JoySynth. I built JoySynth because I wanted to see whether a familiar game controller could become a genuinely playable musical instrument—not just a novelty button mapper. The analog sticks select chords and notes, the shoulder buttons play them, the triggers bend pitch, and the other controls handle drums, instruments, effects, scales, and recording. JoySynth has grown into a complete standalone Windows music app with layered looping, custom samples, microphone effects, live audio inputs, a sound-board mixer, and performance recording. The first public version is currently free to download.
