Irreversible - A button you're not supposed to press. Ever.

by•
Irreversible: press a single button once every 24 hours. Resist, and nothing happens, it just counts the days. Give in, and a short generated phrase gets written to the Solana blockchain. Public, verifiable, impossible to undo. No account, no login, no personal data — just an anonymous ID and a permanent record of your choices. More lies underneath (quests, narrative choices, a shared ledger) — better discovered than described. Built solo, as an experiment in temptation and permanence.

Honestly, this didn't start as solving a problem — it started as a thought experiment. I was fascinated by the idea of a single, small action having a real, permanent consequence. Most apps let you undo everything. I wanted the opposite: something where a tap actually meant something, because it couldn't be taken back. The blockchain part came from that same instinct — not because "web3" is trendy, but because it's genuinely the only technology that makes "forever" true and independently verifiable, not just a promise from me as the developer. The process changed a lot along the way. It started as just a red button. Then I kept asking "what if pressing it left a trace others could see?" and "what if some presses hid themselves for a while, so you never fully knew what you'd get?" Each answer opened a new door — quests, choices that build a quiet pattern over time, an anonymous shared ledger of everyone who's given in or resisted. The hardest part wasn't the tech — it was resisting the urge to explain everything upfront. I kept stripping away onboarding, tutorials, tooltips. The app almost never tells you what's happening. You just have to press it, or not, and find out. Happy to answer anything about the build (Kotlin/Compose + Solana + Cloudflare Workers) or the design decisions.
