My first Product Hunt launch: I built a map for music rabbit holes

by

Hey Product Hunt, I’m Eve, and this is my first launch here.

I write and review music for Brainwashed.com. By day, I’ve been an analyst, a developer, and now work in application governance. So a lot of my professional life has involved figuring out how complicated systems fit together, where the data came from, and when a system needs to admit what it does not know. Soundstellation is where those two parts of my life finally met.

It lets you start with a musician or band, choose the exact person or group you mean, and follow the connections around them over time. You can see where a connection comes from and where the map currently runs out. Curated constellations are coming next: scene and genre paths shaped by people who know their corners of music. If that might be you, I’d love to hear from you.

I did not want to build a giant graph that acts like it has settled music history. Music is messier, more collaborative, and more interesting than that.

If you take it for a spin, I’d love to know:

- Is the point of it clear when you arrive?

- Who did you start with?

- What did you expect to find?

- Where did it feel useful, confusing, or incomplete?

- If you’ve done a first launch before: what do you wish you had known?

More products coming. This is the fun part of my life after wearing non-musical hats by day!
