I'm Amar Varma, Co-founder & CEO @ Mantle (5x Founder, GP, ex-LP). AMA 👇

My career in technology began in Silicon Valley, where I contributed to the development of foundational technologies, including early graphics processing units (GPUs) and the USB 1.0 interface.

Following my time in the semiconductor industry, I transitioned to venture capital, where I focused on identifying and supporting promising technology ventures. This experience fuelled my passion for building and investing in companies that address critical gaps in the market.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of founding several companies, including:

  • Xtreme Labs (acquired by Pivotal, later acquired by VMware)

  • Hatch Labs (parent company of Tinder, acquired by Interactive Corp (IAC))

  • Autonomic (acquired by Ford Motor Company)

Now as co-founder and CEO of , I'm leveraging my decades of experience across technology, private companies, and private funds to build software to help track and manage investments in private assets—from cap tables to capital calls.

Hey Amar! I also started my career in semiconductors (at Fairchild). What's it like being back in the founders' chair after doing a stint in venture capital? What's the most different for you now?

Fairchild, you are an OG! I've have been a Founder of companies and Funds so it it a blessed feeling like everyday is a new opportunity to grow and shape the world! And it never feels like a job :)

Incredible journey, Amar! Really admire how you've bridged deep tech and venture. Curious—what’s been the biggest mindset shift moving from founder to investor and back again? Also excited to see how Mantle reshapes private asset management!
