How I went from CS student to building a fashion startup

Hi everyone! I’m Jinny 👋

I’m a Korean-American Computer Science student at Boston University, currently working as a Software Engineer at EXTORY in Seoul. I spend most of my time building products, working on frontend and admin systems, experimenting with AI-powered developer tools, and learning as much as I can about what makes people actually want to use a product.

Outside of software, one of my biggest interests has always been fashion. I love discovering designer brands, comparing prices between Korea and the U.S., finding pieces on sale, looking at how other people style things, and having those very serious conversations with friends that start with:

“Should I buy this?”

That interest eventually turned into a project of my own: Crazy Sajangnim.

Crazy Sajangnim is a fashion shopping platform I built around discounted designer fashion from Korean and U.S. retailers. The name comes from the Korean phrase “사장님이 미쳤어요”, which roughly means “The boss has gone crazy” and is often used when a store is running a huge sale.

But I didn’t want to build another website that just shows products and sends people to checkout.

One of my favorite parts of shopping is the social side of it: sending clothes to friends, asking for opinions, talking about fit, sharing styling ideas, and helping each other decide whether something is actually worth buying.

So Crazy Sajangnim also has a community blog where shoppers can share finds, outfit photos, reviews, styling ideas, fit notes, and “Should I buy this?” posts. My goal is to make online shopping feel a little more like shopping with other people instead of endlessly scrolling alone.

I’m still very much in the building and learning stage, and that’s one of the reasons I joined SaaS Hive. I’m interested in meeting other founders, seeing how people approach distribution and product development, getting thoughtful feedback, and learning from people who are also figuring things out as they build.

I’m especially interested in software engineering, AI products, fashion tech, online communities, consumer products, and the strange process of turning an idea you personally want into something other people might want too.
