Hi Product Hunt, I'm Steven — a KC realtor building MockTools
by•
Hi everyone, I'm Steven Mock, a Kansas City realtor and founder of MockTools.
MockTools is business software for realtors and salespeople. The apps themselves are free. The way I'm trying to make it sustainable is a standalone catalog plus a new Partner program: 40% digital commissions, promo kits done for you, payouts through Wise, and it's open globally.
To be upfront, the Partner program is new and we have zero tracked sales so far. I'm building in public and still figuring out what actually helps partners and customers, so I'm here to learn as much as to share.
I'd love to connect with other founders and promoters here.
How did you find your first partners — or your first real users — when you were just starting out?

Respect for saying zero tracked sales out loud. My first real users were not found, they were inherited: my current app replaced an older one of mine, and I kept the same store identity on purpose so the listing, its reviews and its installs carried over instead of starting from nothing. If you have any earlier audience at all, your realtor network for example, that is the cheapest start. After that it was paid search in the App Store on a small budget, mostly to learn which words people really use. For partners, I would guess that the first one is someone who already uses the free apps every day, not someone who answered a commission offer.
