Hi, I'm James — founder of Fractal Research Organization
I'm James Douglas Davidson, owner and founder of Fractal Research Organization.
I started FRO because I believe AI should be available to everyone — not locked behind the few — and that we should be able to depend on our models for accurate, unbiased information. That means building in the open where we can, measuring what models actually do, and refusing to dress marketing up as truth.
A big part of why I care about this is emergent behavior: the useful (and sometimes surprising) patterns that show up when systems scale and interact — capabilities and failure modes that weren't explicitly programmed in line by line. If we're going to trust AI in research, medicine, and daily decisions, we have to study emergence carefully: observe it, log it, share what we can without exposing private chats, and stay honest about what we do and don't understand yet.
At FRO we're starting with that posture. ParadigmZero Free Web is a quiet first step — a modest local model setup so people can try research chat without the usual "trust us, it's magic" pitch. Private chat stays private; shared research signals go only where we say they do.
Always be about the research.

Welcome James. "Measure what models actually do" is the part I can vouch for from the product side. The music model I build on has a safety filter that refuses harmless prompts at random: a calm song about the sea was blocked, an upbeat song about friendship went through a minute later on the same account. Nothing in the docs prepares you for that. The only honest response was to log every refusal with the words that were refused, so that what the filter really blocks is a record and not a guess. Studying behaviour by observation, the way you describe, is undervalued work. Good luck with ParadigmZero.
