Not a will or a password manager. Everything in between.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Taylor, a husband, dad of two boys, and indie developer.

Years ago, I started writing letters to my sons whenever I traveled. Things I’d want them to know if something ever happened to me. I didn’t trust a regular email account to stick around, so I built a small system on AWS to keep them safe.

Then it hit me: my wife has no idea what AWS is, or how any of it works. If something happened to me, the letters I wrote for my boys would be locked inside something only I understood.

So I wrote out directions and tucked them under my keyboard. Not exactly a plan. More like hope and a prayer.

And once I started, I couldn’t stop thinking about the rest. Dropbox, Apple backups, Google Photos. All the places our family’s digital life lives. How would my kids get the photos, videos, and memories I want them to have?

That’s why I built If Required.

It’s a private place to write letters and leave practical instructions for the people you love. Everything is encrypted while stored, and you choose exactly who receives what. Nothing gets delivered unless trusted people confirm something has happened, with a safety window before anything is released.

It’s not a password manager or a will. It’s for everything in between. The stuff your family would otherwise have to figure out alone.

It’s one of the most personal things I’ve ever built. I’m excited (and a little nervous) to share it here.
