I-Like-U - Confess your feelings via a retro Game Boy cartridge

by
I-Like-U turns a plain text confession into a fully interactive retro Game Boy experience. Pick a companion (cat, puppy, bear, or a shy dev), write your note, and it plays out like booting up an actual 1989 handheld — complete with chiptune music generated live via the Web Audio API (zero MP3 files). No coding needed to make your own; just type two names, pick a theme, and get a shareable link. Fully open source (MIT) if you want to fork or self-host it.

Hey Product Hunt I built this because texting someone 'I like you' felt way too flat. So instead I over-engineered an entire virtual Game Boy that boots up like the real thing and delivers your note like a game cartridge — complete with procedurally synthesized chiptune music (no audio files at all, everything's generated live via Web Audio API). You can make your own in under a minute, no coding needed — just pick a companion, write your message, and get a shareable link. It's fully open source (MIT), so if you want to fork it, add your own companion character, or just poke at the code, it's all there. Would love feedback, especially on the /create flow — trying to make it as easy as possible for non-coders too.
