HyLink - A tiny hover menu for links. No tracking, no telemetry.

by•
Hover a link in a page’s text and HyLink shows a small menu. Open the link in a new tab, a new window, or incognito. Tile it in a side window to read two pages at once. Copy the link clean, with tracking parameters removed. The menu stays hidden on nav bars, headers, and sidebars, so it does not get in your way. Choose the actions you want, set the hover delay, and turn it off on any site. Open source, MIT licensed. No data leaves your browser: no tabs permission, no telemetry.

Hi Product Hunt! I’m Abhijit, maker of HyLink. I built it because I open a lot of links while I read. Each time I had to right-click, scan a long context menu, and pick an item. For side-by-side reading, I had to drag windows around by hand. I wanted one small menu that appears when I hover a link in the text, and stays away when I read. HyLink does that. Hover a link and you get up to eight actions: new tab, new window, incognito, side (right), side (stacked), copy clean link, copy address, and open. “Copy clean link” strips tracking parameters, and opened links are cleaned by default. The menu does not show on nav bars, headers, or sidebars unless you hold a modifier key. You choose the actions, their order, and the hover delay, and you can turn it off per site. Privacy was a hard rule. HyLink asks for storage, system.display, and activeTab only. It does not request the tabs permission, reads nothing but the link you hover, and sends no data anywhere. It is MIT licensed, and the UI is translated into ten languages. I would love your feedback: which action do you use most, and what is missing? Thanks for checking it out!
