Memento - Encrypted notes, passwords & links. Only you hold the keys.

by•
Memento is a privacy-first workspace for notes, passwords, bookmarks and AI prompts. Notes, vault items, prompts and attachments are encrypted on your device with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before they sync, so our servers never see that content in plaintext. One app instead of three: Markdown editor, credential vault and smart link previews. Free during public beta. Next up: Claude-powered semantic search, summaries and tag suggestions that run on client-decrypted content.

Hey Product Hunt 👋

I'm building Memento from India. It's bootstrapped and in public beta.

The problem: my notes lived in one app, passwords in another, bookmarks in a third, and most of them could read my data. I wanted one place for all of it where the server can't read anything.

How it works: notes, vault items, AI prompts and attachments are encrypted on your device with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before they leave your browser, and the server stores only ciphertext. Your encryption key is random rather than derived from your password, and it's only uploaded sealed to your own devices' keys. Bookmarks and tags aren't end-to-end encrypted yet.

What's next: AI features built with Claude (semantic search across your vault, summaries of long notes, tag suggestions) that run on content decrypted on your device, so plaintext still never reaches our servers. Claude Code also writes much of our codebase.

It's free during beta. I'd love blunt feedback, especially on onboarding and what you'd want from the AI features. You can reach me here or at .
