What I changed after 10 affiliate clicks and zero orders
I launched HowMuchWatts with 50+ free home-energy calculators. The first Amazon report showed 10 outbound clicks and zero orders. That was useful: people were curious enough to click, but the path from a calculator result to the right product was too vague.
Instead of adding more generic product links, I built a comparison around the actual decision: plug-in meter vs energy-monitoring smart plug vs whole-home circuit monitor. It uses manufacturer specifications, explains installation and data tradeoffs, and clearly says it is not hands-on testing. The guide contains disclosed Amazon affiliate links.
I also found that Google had not discovered the guide yet, so I added a homepage path, linked it from nine relevant calculators, and submitted it for indexing. I’ll measure guide visits separately from Amazon clicks.
For a utility site this early, would you prioritize more buyer guides or keep deepening the pages already getting impressions?
