HER - The AI companion that remembers you and judges fairly.

Hi everyone 👋 I'm Dua, and I built HER with my teammate Amy Kaye for DoraHacks 2.0. It started from something that annoyed me constantly: every AI tool I used forgot me the second the conversation ended. I could tell it my priorities, my stress, the people in my life — and next time, it was a stranger again. I wanted something that actually held onto context the way a person does, and used it without me re-explaining my whole life every single time. The second piece was more personal. I noticed how much AI defaults to just agreeing with whatever you say. So HER Honor was built to specifically not do that — she weighs both sides of a messy situation honestly, even when that means telling you you're wrong. That felt more useful than another AI that just tells you what you want to hear. Once memory was working, we realized it shouldn't only power judgment — it should show up everywhere. What If uses it to connect a decision back to what you've told her matters. Even the smaller, softer parts of the app lean on it: her skincare routines factor in things you've mentioned, and even the fun side — a memory-matching game (a literal pun on the whole point of the app) and daily fortunes — carries the same "she actually knows you" thread through. The build evolved a lot along the way — it started as just the judgment feature, and grew into a full companion once we realized the real magic wasn't any single feature. It was watching her remember something from one context and use it somewhere completely different, later, unprompted.
