Haven Private Circles - Encrypted photos, stories and calls for your closest people

Haven is a free, private social app for family and close friends. Photos, videos, stories with a song, messages and group calls, shared inside small invite-only circles. Everything is end-to-end encrypted (hybrid post-quantum) and travels peer-to-peer, even over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with no internet. No account, phone number or email. No ads, no tracking, no algorithm. Media rides on a relay you or a friend run, or your own S3 bucket. Open source (AGPL).

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Blaine, and I build Haven on my own. I wanted somewhere to share photos and videos with my family and a handful of friends that wasn't also an ad business. Every option I tried either kept our photos on someone's servers, wanted a phone number, or quietly turned into a feed built to keep me scrolling. So Haven is deliberately small. You make a circle, invite the people you actually know, and share posts, stories (you can attach a song), messages and group calls with them. That's it: no likes to chase, no strangers, no algorithm. What's different is where your stuff lives. Everything is end-to-end encrypted on your device, with hybrid post-quantum keys (X25519 + ML-KEM-768), and it moves peer-to-peer, including over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you're together with no internet. There's no account, phone number or email. I don't hold your keys and I don't run storage: media goes through a relay you or a friend run (any Haven app can be one, or a tiny relay on a Pi), or your own S3 bucket. The one thing I do run is a blind push relay that forwards already-encrypted notifications. I've done my own adversarial review, but there's been no paid outside audit, and the source is open (AGPL) for anyone who wants to look. It's free on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android, Windows and Linux, with no ads, subscription or in-app purchases. There are no servers to pay for, so there's nothing to charge for. A question for you: who's the first circle you'd set up, family or friends? And what would stop you from moving them off the app you use now?
