Halo - A customizable workspace in your Mac’s notch

Halo turns your Mac’s notch into a customizable workspace for music, lyrics, files, timers, clipboard history, notes, launching apps, system controls, and more. Start with a polished preset—or shape the interface around the way you use your Mac.

Hey Product Hunt! I’m Pranav, the developer behind Halo.

I built Halo because I felt most Mac notch utilities either forced everyone into the same layout or did not go far enough. I wanted the top of my Mac to become a space I could actually shape around how I work.

Halo includes practical tools for music, lyrics, files, timers, clipboard history, notes, launching apps, and system controls. The part I’m most excited about is Custom Interfaces: Halo is not locked to one fixed notch layout, so the same space can become a compact media player, a productivity dashboard, a file shelf, or something completely different.

Halo launches at $24.99 for a lifetime license covering two Macs. A monthly option for $2.99/mo is also available, with a 25% student discount on all license.

I’d love feedback on two things: what would you actually keep in your Mac’s notch every day, and what would you build if you could make it your own?

Halo Update v0.3.1!

Another Halo update is here, with a big focus on making the Closed Notch experience much more customizable and polished.

Closed Notch Widgets:

Closed Notch widgets now have their own proper styles and layouts.

Depending on the widget, you can now choose between completely different ways of displaying the same information, including:

• Multiple digital, analog, flip, terminal and other Clock styles

• New Calendar layouts

• Different Mirror shapes and presentations

• New Timer designs, including progress and segmented styles

• Multiple Battery layouts

• New Files / File Tray presentations

These aren't just different colours or icons. They're genuinely different layouts for each widget:

  • Smarter Notch Sizing

  • Halo now dynamically adapts the Closed Notch size around your widgets.

  • Different fonts, layouts, dates, timers, battery displays and other configurations are taken into account automatically, greatly reducing clipping and oversized widgets.

Audio CI Improvements:

  • The Audio CI scrubber has also been fixed and improved.

  • Seeking should now behave properly in Safari, including while media is paused, without jumping back to the previous playback position.

  • Other Improvements

Various smaller fixes and refinements have also been made throughout Halo.

As always, keep the feedback coming. ❤️
