Hey everyone 👋 I'm the solo maker behind Graphite. Here's the short version of why this exists: I tried every note app out there — Notion, Obsidian, Logseq, Reflect, you name it. They all share the same fundamental limitation: your notes are dead until you open them. You write something brilliant at 2am, and three weeks later you're re-reading 40 notes trying to find it. Graphite flips that. Your notes are alive. Here's how: 1. Semantic search — You don't remember the exact words you used. Graphite doesn't need them. Type in natural language and it finds the right note by meaning, not keywords. Powered by Gemini embeddings with a multi-stage retrieval pipeline (lexical → embedding → cross-encoder rerank). 2. Autonomous AI agents — This isn't a ChatGPT wrapper. Graphite uses Google ADK's ReAct planner to reason across your entire knowledge base. It can search, create, update notes, run financial research, and analyze codebases — then show you its full reasoning trace so you know why it did what it did. 3. Deep research with citations — Paste a source, point it at your workspace notes, or let it search the web. It synthesizes a cited report with inline references [S1], [S2]. Think GPT Researcher, but it knows your personal context. 4. Voice-first — Dictate with Whisper. Read back with neural TTS. Full hands-free workflow on mobile. 5. Local-first — SQLite by default. Your data never leaves your machine. Optional Supabase sync when you want cloud access + pgvector search. MIT licensed, self-hostable, runs on a $5 VPS. 6. Built-in financial analysis — Real-time stock signals (MA, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands) with interactive charts. Because half my notes were about investing anyway. Tech stack: Python/Flask backend, Gemini 2.0/3.5 Flash, Google ADK, pgvector, React Native/Expo, Whisper, KittenTTS. All open source. I'm a solo dev and this is my launch. local-first is a huge plus for me, and the semantic search actually finds stuff i forgot i wrote. the deep research with citations is the standout feature so far.

honestly the local-first setup is exactly what i've been wanting. one thing though, could you add a way to set up scheduled agent runs that automatically research a topic and drop the findings into a specific notebook. would make it way more useful for keeping up with stuff like weekly market briefs without me having to kick it off each time.

the semantic search actually picks up context surprisingly well, way better than just keyword matching. also love that it's local-first, feels good knowing my random 2am notes aren't getting shipped off somewhere
