Fitbit Edge is Google’s next-generation fitness tracker, a slim, screen-based wearable for active lifestyles and everyday wear. It sits between the Pixel Watch and the screenless Fitbit Air. You can pre-order it now, and it goes on shelves October 27.
Problem: Fitness trackers tend to force a choice. Screenless bands are light but give you little on your wrist, while smartwatches do more but are bulkier and need charging more often.
Solution: The Edge is a tracker with a screen that stays slim and light. Per Google, the case is 11.5mm thick and 45% lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12. The Hybrid OLED display is Google’s largest and brightest tracker screen yet, with 46% more viewing area than previous Fitbit trackers.
What makes it different:
Battery: up to seven days on a charge, which is Google’s figure from pre-production testing, so real results may be lower. Fast charging gives a full day of battery in five minutes with a 30W adapter, sold separately.
Repairable: Google calls it Fitbit’s first repairable fitness tracker, with a replaceable battery and modular internals.
GPS: built-in GPS that works without your phone, with up to 40% better tracking accuracy than previous generations, per Google.
Key features:
More than 50 workout modes with real-time guidance such as pace targets, heart rate zones and track splits
Automatic recognition of up to 100 workouts
Continuous heart rate, on-wrist ECG (not in all countries), skin temperature and an altimeter
Sleep stages and HRV that feed a morning recovery score
Smartwatch basics: Google Maps, media controls, and call and message notifications
Four finishes (Obsidian, Fog, Olive, Canyon) and several band styles, sold separately
Stephen Curry Special Edition
Health Guardian: with Google Health Premium, it tracks blood pressure and insulin resistance trends in the background and sends high and low heart rate alerts. Google says these are for general wellness only. They aren’t diagnosis, medical advice or screening for diabetes or hypertension.
Good to know:
Google Health Premium is sold separately and is needed for the Google Health Coach and Health Guardian. Three months come with purchase.
Google lists “water-resistant up to 50 meters” as “coming soon”. It also says the device is not waterproof or dust proof.
It works with Android 11 or higher, or iOS 16.4 or higher. Some features vary by region.
Price: $179.99, or $219.99 for the Stephen Curry Special Edition.

Happy launch day! Congrats on Google Fitbit Edge. Nice to be launching alongside you today. We're launching Benson too: https://www.producthunt.com/products/benson-2. Would appreciate a comment or some support if you've got time. Hope the day goes well!
oh! Fitbit's also finally fallen into the display trap 😅
I think I'd be particularly inclined because of the 7 day battery life. I am so tired of charging my apple watch every single day
