I had a drawer full of old gold jewellery to sell—inherited pieces, a broken chain. First pawn shop offered a number that felt way too low. Had no idea how they got it.
Turns out it's all about melt value: weight × purity × spot price. The stamp (14K, 18K, etc.) gives you purity; spot price you can look up. So you can roughly work it out yourself before anyone makes an offer.
I built this so others could do the same—enter weight and purity, get a ballpark in seconds. Pulls live gold prices from APIs. No signup, works on mobile. Hopefully saves someone from walking in blind.
