A missing search result is not proof that a file is gone

I'm part of the GJ File Manager team. When a remembered filename returns no results, the useful next step is to check the search conditions before reorganizing files.

A short troubleshooting sequence:

1. Search for a distinctive fragment of the name and press Return. Check source, file-type, time and size filters; remove conditions that do not match the file you want.

2. Check the actual location: is the drive connected, and is that specific directory authorized? Give unfinished indexing time to complete. Reauthorizing every folder is not a useful first step.

3. If you know the path, try opening the file there. If it opens but search still misses it, record the app version, query and source settings for support. Use a harmless sample when sharing a reproduction.

In GJ File Manager, the toolbar and global shortcut use the same search capability. Switching entry points alone does not expand the search scope. A filename hit also does not prove that full-text search worked.

For people troubleshooting search across local and external drives: which missing clue slows you down most—active filters, source availability or indexing progress? A concrete example would help us improve the guidance. No need to share private filenames or document contents.
